History
Guatemala’s history, while marked by challenges, is a testament to resilience and cultural richness. From the ancient Maya civilization, renowned for its remarkable achievements in astronomy, architecture, and agriculture, to its vibrant modern-day traditions, Guatemala’s cultural heritage remains a source of pride. Despite periods of colonial exploitation and 20th-century conflicts, including a civil war, the country has made strides toward peace and democracy. The 1996 peace accords ended decades of unrest, fostering opportunities for rebuilding and growth. Today, Guatemala's diverse communities, stunning landscapes, and rich traditions inspire hope for a future rooted in unity, progress, and cultural preservation.
